Boost Your Self-esteem With Meditation

meditation

Buddha was asked, ” What have you gained from meditation ” . He replied , nothing . However , Buddha said , let me tell you what I lost: Anger, Anxiety, Depression , Insecurity,Fear of old age and Death.

Meditation helps increasing self-esteem because it allows people to know their real self. The source of worth. It is the practice of being in silence. It is not about forcing our mind to be quiet. It is a process of rediscovering the quietness that already exits inside.

When you meditate you don’t force yourself not to think, you became an observer. You observe your thoughts. I have noticed that there are moments when you meditate that there are no more thoughts.

Benefits of meditation and self esteem

Meditation benefits our minds, bodies, and spirit. It increases self esteem. It allows us leaving the ego behind, all worries and all thoughts.  The medical scientist and a psychologist, Dr. Borysenko says:

“Meditation may lead to a breakdown of screen memories so that early childhood abuse episodes and other traumas suddenly flood the mind, making the patient temporarily more anxious until these traumas are healed. Many so-called meditation exercises are actually forms of imagery and visualization that are extraordinarily useful in healing old traumas, confronting death anxieties, finishing ‘old business’, learning to forgive, and enhancing self esteem.”

In the case of low self esteem, the main issues is that the mind is constantly denigrating and keeping a low opinion in a constant recurring circle. Practicing meditation can help people to be less anxious and more centered. It also brings more awareness and understanding of yourself, thus, enhance self-esteem.

It helps you do less and accomplish more. There are different types of meditations you can start to improve your self esteem. I had particularly practiced mindfulness when I started this process many years ago. You simply focus your attention on your breath.

I am using the Primordial Sound Meditation where you focus your attention on a mantra instead of your breath. It does not matter what meditation you do; the important issue is to do it regularly and for at least 15 to 20 minutes.

If you want to increase your self esteem, meditate, and you will see many miracles happening in your life.

How to do breathing meditation

If you are not sure were to start, you can begin the following way:

  • Choose a quiet place to meditate and sit in a comfortable position. You can sit on the floor or sit in a chair. The most important thing is to keep your back straight to prevent your mind from becoming sleepy.
  • Close your eyes and breathe naturally, preferably through the nostrils. Do not attempt to control your breath.
  • Keep concentrating on your breath. Your mind will be very busy, all kind of thoughts will appear. Do not follow the thoughts as they arise, do not resist them, just come back to your breath.
  • Do this meditation for at least 20 minutes a day.
